Street parking in New York
A New York parking decision has two parts. The sign on your side of the block says whether you may stand or park, and until when. The curb itself says whether a gap is there right now. Park Map reads the city sign for the address you type, then shows a live camera at the nearest corner.
What to check before you leave the car
Read the sign that faces your side of the street, not the sign across the intersection. Street cleaning, no standing, a meter, and a hydrant can all apply to the same curb. A camera shows the corner. It does not replace the sign, and it does not promise an empty space.
